URBAN DESIGNER
ITHACA, NY

Auburn Green is a big, triangular-shaped plot of land in the middle of Ithaca that was in the middle of a commercial and residential hub. We believe it is being underused and undervalued, and that it can bring much more value to the neighborhood it lives in. I'm keen on incuding this in my portfolio to show that my foray into the design world is backed by technical and classical art training: I have formal knowledge of how colors interact, line, space (and negative space!), and have hand-drawing and art knowledge and training.

I wanted to study several things in the park: movement, traffic, bodies, businesses around the park, and topography. In the process images below, you'll see that I studied and theorized the movement of peoples' bodies through the park with different design approaches. I also interviewed local businesses and townspeople about the park's purpose, how often they use the park, how safe they felt in the park, and what would make them visit the park more. I also wanted to know more about their problems and their biggest deterrent from entering the park.
